Which is worse, stealing like Karl or cheating like Bob?

I think cheating like Bob is worse.

1b. Why is that worse?

Bob conned an old man into lending him money because he said he was sick (lie #1) and then he promised he would pay the old man back (lie #2).

2. What do you think is the worst thing about cheating the old man?

The worst thing about cheating the old man is that Bob using the old man’s kind heart for his own gain. He had no intention of ever paying the old man back and was just using him for his money.

2a. why is that the worst thing?

I think it’s the worst thing because Bob is taking advantage of the old man’s good morals to steal from him.

3. In general, why should a promise be kept?

We should keep promises because our word is extremely important. We should always try to live up to promises that make because we want people to be able to trust us and know they can rely on us.

4. Is it important to keep a promise to someone you don't know well or will never see again?

Yes, I believe every promise you make is important. It really doesn’t matter who you make the promise with, you need to stand up to your end of the promise.

4a. Why or why not?

I think if you are willing to break promises with people you don’t know than you will more than likely break promises with people that are important to you.

5. Why shouldn't someone steal from a store?

You shouldn’t steal from store because you are taking something that doesn’t belong to you and you have no right to it.

6. What is the value or importance of property rights?

Property rights are protecting the property owners.

7. Should people do everything they can to obey the law?

People should try their best to follow the law.

7a. Why or why not?

Laws are put in place to protect the safety of everyone. Laws are meant to protect citizens.

8. Was the old man being irresponsible by lending Bob the money?

The old man was being somewhat irresponsible lending Bob the money, but he was also just trusting Bob’s word.

8a. Why or why not?

I think the old man was more of an honest and trusting person that expected Bob to be the same way. I really don’t think he was too irresponsible.
Stage Yes No

3. Peer pressure My brother is doing the same thing. I’ve never seen anyone else do this.

A burglar would most likely steal if it had some benefit to them because they may believe they won’t get caught and doesn’t want or have the money to pay for it. Politician allotting funds understands the implications of stealing and how it affects society but decide to turn the other cheek. A non profit organization founder understands that the right thing to do may require civil disobedience. Therefore if they would be saving someone’s life by stealing, or creating Justice they might steal as well.

Hitler would break a promise if it meant that it would benefit him. He would not care about the implications for the other person as long as he could get what he wanted out of the situation. Taylor swift would keep a promise, for example when she promised on of her fans she would go to their prom with them. This was a great thing to do and she followed though with what she promised, no more no less. Harriet Tubman was to live as a salve and it was illegal for her not to. She broke he promise to obey the law when she escaped to freedom and helped others do the same. She promised she would come back from whomever wanted to escape and although this was a promise to do something illegal it was for the greater good justifying breaking the law by keeping this promise.
Cheating

Charlie Sheen would most likely cheat on lets say a drug test because he would probably think that he would not get caught and everyone knows he would fail a drug test. I think that 99% of politicians would cheat by cheating information that is put out about their policies or their opponents (which happens today) because they think that they have to in order to win and that it would benefit the country if they win.
