I will need to be able to teach them about Math, English, Science, and History.

General Pedagogical Knowledge:I plan on teaching these subjects in the most engaging way possible. I want my students to participate in class and get excited to come to my class.

Pedagogical Content Knowledge: I will break up the class into parts, so the students stay more focused. We will have lecture for 15-20 minutes, then a short discussion time. Lecture again for 15-20 minutes then an activity. Some days would have shorter lectures, but in general the idea would be to break out the class into 4 parts.

Knowledge of learners and learning: Understanding your students is really important when you are a teacher. Different ages learn differently, so it is important to know the best way your age group learns. Younger children have a lot of energy and like to learn visually, so I would have the classroom set up for activities where the students can get up and move around. I would have a lot of visual examples to help the students understand the information.
Take a presentation you have made or will make and adapt it with multiple means of representation so that it reaches more people.

My professional field is Early Childhood, Intervention Specialist and Art Therapy. An example of content knowledge for an Early Childhood setting would be the understanding of a certain subject such as math or language arts. An example of content knowledge for Intervention specialist setting would be such a wide range of content due to each student developmentally. An example of general pedagogical knowledge for Early Childhood would be I guess as the teacher knowing how to set up and teach each subject for success. An example for Intervention specialist would be to know and use strategies for maintaining a productive classroom through organization and time management. An example of pedagogical content knowledge in an early childhood would be always having additional activities appropriate for the students as well as the curriculum. For Intervention a pedagogical content knowledge example would be developing the student’s individualized plans that help them develop and understand concepts which will help show improvements in the long run. An example of early childhood’s knowledge of learners/ learning is just the ability to get to know children on a personal level by their different learning styles. As a teacher I think it’s very important to have a good teacher student relationship to further the child’s success. As for intervention, an example of knowledge of learners and learning that each student will be at all different places developmentally so keeping notes on successes and improvements on each students is very important in helping the student in the long run.
An example of knowing content knowledge is knowing art mediums and techniques. I need to know how to use different mediums so I can effectively pick out the correct mediums for the grade I am teaching and for the projects I am assigning. I need to know different techniques so that I can pick out what supplies go with what mediums and which supplies will give us the best results for a project. An example of general pedagogy is knowing things such as the most effective way to set my classroom up and different strategies I use to teach. Should I teach them about an artist by reading a book? By doing a powerpoint? By showing them an online museum? All of those questions relate to general pedagogy requirements. For pedagogy content knowledge, I need to know the art content requirements for the state so I am teaching my students all they need to know. If I know the art content areas, then I can plan lesson and project accordingly and know that my students will be competent in art. An example of knowledge of learners and learning would be knowing the population I am teaching and the neighborhood I am teaching in. I would love to teach in an inner-city school so it would be good to know the statistics regarding free meals and poverty. An example of pedagogical knowledge is knowing the best way to teach to your students. This could be instead of teaching directly out of the book, instead having an interactive lesson. An example of pedagogical content knowledge is if the student does not understand to try to present the same information in a different way to accommodate the type of learner that the student is.
Content knowledge -continuing to learn about the subject matter by attending conferences, taking refresher courses or subscribing to content periodicals

General pedagogical knowledge - coming up with lesson plans that apply to the subject. In the lesson plan describing how the concept will be learned through the activity and even what particular concept will be learned.

My professional field is special education. An example of content knowledge would be to be knowledgeable about the content I am teaching, with special needs I could be teaching a wide range of content depending on where each student is developmentally. An example of general pedagogical knowledge would be using strategies in maintaining classroom management, which, is extremely important in special needs because it is very necessary to manage the classroom so it does not get out of hand. For pedagogical content knowledge an extremely important example here is developing individualized plans for students in order to help them develop and understand concepts and to show proof of improvement during reviews and revisions of their IEP’s.
Knowledge of Content- I would need to have knowledge about what I am teaching. For example, the social work ethics is commonly taught in social work classes, so it is just one example of the many things I would need to know.

Pedagogical Content Knowledge- This would be how I would teach these concepts. Going with my example of teaching the social work ethics, I would teach this by explaining the points thoroughly, giving real world examples, and having students come up with their own examples.

General Pedagogical Knowledge- This is general principles of classroom management that can be used no matter the subject. For example, this could be deciding what types of students would work best together if I put them in groups to come up with the examples from the previous example.

Knowledge of Learners and Learning- I would need to get to know my students in order to learn how they learn best.
